Real Madrid see a solution to the Cristiano Ronaldo problem
Where are you going, Cristiano Ronaldo?
The situation hasn't changed, that much we know, but now Cristiano Ronaldo is angry at what he considers a derisory offer from Real Madrid.
Los Blancos also finally seem ready to contemplate his departure.
At least this appears to be the strategy of both in the context of a negotiation that will be more complex than ever.
The Portuguese striker knows that it will not be easy to find another club to satisfy his demands, and Madrid assume that to get rid of Ronaldo, particularly in light of Zinedine Zidane's departure, would come at a terrible cost.
The fact is, however, that Ronaldo is still angry, very angry, just a few days before the start of the World Cup.
Portugal are staying in Kratovo, 40 kilometres from Moscow, and very close to the Zhukovski airport, which will facilitate their travel.
It's a boring place but ideal for a football team to rest, even though there are fervent fans of the Portuguese captain here too.
The Satum Training Center, 11 hectares in size and with three football pitches, has everything a coach needs to focus his players on something as important as a World Cup, and their opener next Friday against Spain in Sochi.
However, Cristiano, excited about what will possibly be his last World Cup because he is 33 years old, keeps thinking about his future in Madrid, as he did in 2017 before the Confederations Cup.
This time, it seems, the situation is more convoluted than on other occasions.
He's more upset than ever, and taking his displeasure far beyond a specific tantrum.
That's because he's absolutely disgusted by Real Madrid's latest offer, which wasn't much better than the last one that came after the Champions League final in Cardiff.
Incidentally, that one never did come to fruition because the club cooled their stance after a decline in the performance of the player.
It was then that the Neymar operation was activated.
Ronaldo was also very upset by that, but parked the issue until the end of the season.
A season that ended like the previous one, with another Champions League in which he has been the main man.
For him, the proposal he's just heard is an invitation to leave, something that would be very attractive for Real Madrid who are obsessed with the signing of the Brazilian star.
Certainly, at this juncture, the club are very far away from reaching the salary which Ronaldo would be satisfied with.
And the attitude of not valuing him as he thinks he deserves, is something that's making him even more angry.
The reality is that unless there is a drastic change in the coming days, there will come a point of no return for Ronaldo.
